About me

I am an Assistant Professor at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) in Finland. Prior to joining TUT, I was an an acting professor at the Machine Vision Group at the University of Oulu. I'm collaborating closely with Computer Vision Group at TUT, Center for Machine Vision Research at the University of Oulu, and Prof. Juho Kannala at Aalto University. In addition, I am a Co-Founder and Technical Advisor of IndoorAtlas Ltd., where I have previously acted as a CTO for several years.

I received my Ph.D. degree from the University of Oulu in 2007. My thesis was selected as the best doctoral thesis of the year by the Pattern Recognition Society of Finland. Afterwards, I was awarded the highly competitive three-year postdoctoral scholarship from the Academy of Finland. During my Ph.D. studies and posdoc I conducted long-term visits to Computer Vision Group at the University of Freiburg and the Visual Geometry Group at the University of Oxford.

I have co-authored more than 50 papers and my H-index is 21 according to Google Scholar. My main research interestest are in computer vision and deep learning.
